Improving your home’s energy efficiency is a simple process that could reduce your monthly heating bills while keeping your home cozy and warm.

To help Newfoundland and Labrador residents to significantly reduce their home heating costs, the Provincial Government has developed two new programs: the Newfoundland and Labrador EnerGuide for Houses Program and the Residential Energy Efficiency Program (REEP) for lower income households.

Energy efficiency initiatives were committed to in our September 11, 2007 Energy Plan, Focusing our Energy, to offer financial assistance to help homeowners complete energy efficiency audits on their homes and access provincial and federal grants for energy-saving home improvements.

These programs complement other Provincial Government initiative to help reduce home heating costs. The province recently launched the Residential Wood Pellet Appliance Rebate to help Newfoundlanders and Labradorians reduce their home heating costs by burning wood pellets to heat their homes. The Provincial Government has also announced the details of the 2008 Home Heating Rebate program, which will provide rebates of up to $500 this year.
