Succession Planning Workshops
A one day succession planning workshop was held in Gander on
March 24, 2000 in conjunction with the Newfoundland and Labrador Horticulture
Council. The session provided detailed information to farm families to ensure
they have the knowledge and skills required to successfully transfer the family
farm.

Farm Business Management Blue Box Project
Fifteen blue boxes containing more than 50 different farm
business management resources are available through the Farm Management
Specialists, Agriculture Representatives, the Agriculture Resource Centre, and
the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture. Resources include
CD-ROMS, videos, books, magazines, and fact sheets dealing with the issues of
marketing, succession planning, financial management, diversification ideas,
business planning, and managing labour on the farm. The blue box resources will
be used by the Agrifoods Branch staff in their advisory and consultation
services, and can also be borrowed by farmers free of charge. These resources
can be used directly by the farm managers providing them with the information
needed to improve their business management practices.
