This ecoregion occurs on the extreme south coast of the Avalon and Burin
Peninsulas and on the northeast coast near Bay de Verde and Cape Feels. Although
this ecoregion is 200m or less in elevation the extreme oceanic climate
precludes the development of forest other than Balsam Fir krummholz. The heaths
in this area have a close affinity to oceanic parts of Northern Scotland and
Southern Norway.
