The Online Geoscience Resource Atlas has been
updated with the addition of new layers,
better documentation and added links between online
resources ( e.g., Geofiles, historical
mineral claims, links
to PDF files of geological
maps).
Historical Claims
19,000
historical ground and map staked claims have been added,
with links to the Mineral Rights Inquiry Report and the
Geofile record for any assessment reports filed. This
layer is still under construction.
Land Use Layers
The
following land use layers have been added: Forest
Access Roads, LIL
- Labrador Inuit Lands, LISA
- Labrador Inuit Settlement Area,
Public Water Supplies,
Municipal Boundaries,
Municipal Planning areas,
Documentation:
Documentation has
been improved for many layers, most
notably on the Bedrock Geology help and legend
files
Mineral Lands Layers
These
have been updated with name changes: 'Excluded
Land' has
been renamed 'Mineral Rights Cancelled'; 'Lands
Coming Open' has
been renamed 'Notices Gazetted'
Geochemistry Layers
Two new
geochemical layers have been added: Geochemical
Index, Rock
