Dorothy Somerton, age 6, was crushed by a boulder she was climbing over. Accident occurred adjacent to cemetery, where Dorothy had been laying flowers on her grandmother's grave.

The location of the accident was behind the Old Anglican Church in Portugal Cove. Tina gosse writes:- "She was indeed picking flowers for my Great Grandmother, and she was with her sister Margaret Somerton (she is now passed away) and my Aunt Marg have often spoke of what happened on that August day."
