How do I go about obtaining petroleum rights in the onshore area?
Petroleum rights are issued through a competitive bidding process. This
is a two stage process, the first of which is a "Call for Postings"
(CFP). The CFP allows interested parties to identify which lands they would
like to see made available for rights issuance in a "Request for Bids"
(RFB). After the lands of interest have been identified and screened for environmental
and land use considerations the RFB is issued. The RFB document identifies
which parcels of land are available for bidding, the bidding criteria, and any
special conditions that are associated with the RFB, or with individual parcels.
How do I obtain petroleum rights in the offshore area?
Petroleum rights in the offshore area are issued in a two-stage process similar
to what is employed in the onshore area - i.e. a Call for Nominations followed by a
Call for Bids issued by the CNOPB. Further information
can be found at the CNOPB’s website.
