A $300 million federal-provincial
fund called the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Development Fund was
created in 1986 under section 202 of the
Canada-Newfoundland Atlantic Accord Implementation Newfoundland Act.
The primary purpose of this fund was to help prepare the province
to take advantage of offshore petroleum development opportunities.
Forty projects were aproved and the fund is no longer accepting
applications.
