Animal Health Division

Responsibilities

The Animal Health Division delivers programs and services to a variety of members of provincial society in the disciplines of veterinary medicine and food safety as well as directing a number of provincial regulatory programs governed by the Livestock Health Act,the Animal Protection Act, the Food and Drug Act, the Meat Inspection Act, the Heritage Animals Act, and subordinate regulations. The new Animal Health and Protection Act is also a responsibility of this division which will expand its role in the promotion and regulation of animal welfare.
