"Feb. 12: William Dodge and son, belonging to Conn River, Hermitage Bay, were killed last week while they were returning from hauling their bultows, but the weather being very rough, they landed at a small cove surrounded by high hills, and while endeavoring to climb up, they were carried to the bottom by a snow slide, and killed."
