"Sam Butt of the schooner Elsie Butt had an experience of an avalanche on Sunday week past which he will not soon forget. He lives at Flat Island, Bonavista Bay and his house is under a cliff. Tons of snow suddenly fell and half buried the house, and his brother had to shovel the family out. Once before during the winter a similar incident happened. Had rock fallen with the snow no doubt serious results would have been the outcome."
