Heavy rains caused the rise of rivers and lakes in the St. John's area - 2.23" of rain fell in 7 hours. Flooding was widespread, but the only serious damage was to 5 houses at the junction of Springdale and New Gower streets. Quidi Vidi Lake rose 4' in an hour, covering the wharves by the boathouse.
