Following 60 cm of snow on January 22, a further storm hit the NE Avalon on January 24. This storm brought a further 15-20 cm of snow and was followed by heavy freeezing rain and rain. Extensive flooding resulted as storm drains were blocked by snowfall. The major effect was on roads, with many streets rendered impassable. These included Garrison Hill and Barter's Hill downtown, Kenna's Hill, and sections of Stamp's Lane, Topsail Road and the Prince Philip Parkway. Several homes on Warbury Street were flooded. Freezing rain resulted in damage to power lines, leraving some areas without electricity. The city received more than 1,100 calls for service.
