A big storm occurred on December 11, reported as one of the worst ever on the coast. The store at Bateau Cove was destroyed. Lots of damage reported at Little Harbour (exact location unknown), and Island Cove (12G/01). Little Harbour Head lighthouse was covered with ice. 15,000 dollars damage occurred in total. Stores stages etc. also were damaged at Rocky Harbour and Trout River.
