After 1.58 inches of rain and mild temperature, low lying sections of the city began to fill with water, as blocked sewer and high snowbanks prevented drainage. Corner Brook Stream, Majestic Brook, and Bell’s Brook overflowed their banks. A channel was cut in Bell's Brook to prevent flooding. Petries Brook was blasted to remove flood threat. Mt. Bernard, Station Road, Humbermouth Road, Church/Central/Reid Street intersection, Fisher's Hill, and Lester Avenue suffered road damage. West Street suffered damage when the storm sewer in front of the Majestic Theatre became blocked and in turn flooded the street. On Barlett Avenue one basement was flooded. Valley Road was turned into a river. West Valley Road had a severe water build up problem.
