A severe storm struck most of Newfoundland on March 30-31, bringing heavy snow to most of the island (62 cm in Gander) and rain to the Avalon and Burin peninsulas. Over 150 mm of rain was recorded at Salt Pond on March 30, with over 80 mm at St. Lawrence and 60 mm in St. John's. Flood damage occurred in St. Lawrence, with some basements flooded, and considerable road damage. There was also some damage through flooding in the town of Burin.
