A torrential rainfall of 65.2 mm able a river passing under highway 210 to reach flood conditions. The river created a 50 ft cavern which cut off the highway between Mooring Cove and Spanish Room. The cut caused ~20,000 residents on the ‘toe’ of the peninsula to be isolated from the remainder of the island.
