Two serious floods occurred in the Rushoon area in 1973 and 1983. From February 2-5 1973, rain, warm weather and an ice jam caused Rushoon Brook to flood.

On March 3 1983, the ice cover on Rushoon Brook broke, resulting in immediate floods. Eight houses were flooded, and $25,000 of damage caused. Seven families were evacuated for 3 days.
