A ditcher was clearing a previous landslide that had occurred on Saturday April 24, when a second landslide carried the machine over a 25 foot embankment onto the road below. Stanley Penney was badly burned from broken steam pipes and suffered from a broken leg and broken hip. He died on Monday April 29, 1940, in hospital. The landslide occurred 1 mile east of Humbermouth.
