A landslide bought tons of gravel and rock across the main highway leading into Cox's Cove at 7:30 am on February 19,1996. The debris was 4-5 feet high and 40 feet long and came within 15 feet of the Park residence. The road was blocked for a short period of time and took 12 hours to be completely cleaned up. The landslide was bought on by heavy rain and thawing over the weekend.
