Photographs (see below) in the files of the Geological Survey show the south coast community of Francois with clear evidence of a recent landslide, stopping just short of houses in the area. The landslide was probably a debris torrent, based on the shape of the scar, and the distribution of the debris.

Francois is situated in a hazardous location, being surrounded by steep slopes, and is likely subject to rockfall.
