A landslide swept away 3 houses. The residents heard the landslide coming and were able to escape in time. This happened during a rainstorm that lasted 40 hours. The houses affected belonged to James Park Jr., James Park Sr. and a family of Stricklands. During the same storm, a store at Middle Arm (exact location unclear) belonging to a man named Green was also swept away by a landslide.
