The Evening Telegram reported that a group from Mount Cashel was hiking in the Petty Harbour area on the previous Saturday evening. When climbing the steep hill by the power house, one of the Brothers dislodged a rock that fell and struck one of the orphans on the head, fracturing his skull. This is likely the same location at which an avalanche occurred in 1921, and other rockfall took place in 1912.
