On February 19, 2018, the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, launched Advance 2030 - a plan for growth in the oil and gas industry. They were joined by members of the Oil and Gas Industry Development Council, Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, Noia, Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board, labour, industry associations, academia and others. This announcement was made at an oil and gas symposium in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Our vision is for Newfoundland and Labrador to be an internationally preferred location for oil and gas exploration and development driven by an innovative, sustainable, local industry that is globally competitive, environmentally responsible and maximizes benefits to the people of the province.
As part of The Way Forward, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Oil and Gas Industry Development Council worked collaboratively on Advance 2030. A concerted effort is necessary to improve industry performance and accelerate the pace of oil and gas development for the benefit of all stakeholders.
